Don't miss this rare opportunity to participate in a paranormal investigation at the splendid 16th century Castle Menzies, seat of the Chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 400 years. Exclusive overnight access to an intact castle, housing family portraits, clan museum, specimen pieces of furniture and walled garden within the grounds. The event is being run by Paranormal Discovery, an experienced team of investigators who have investigated the castle before with good results. All monies raised are not for profit and will go towards the Clan Menzies Trust and Paranormal Discovery's equipment fund. The castle is an impressive stone 16th century Z-plan tower house, with a large 19th century wing. The older part has three storeys plus an attic, with the two projecting square towers each having five storeys.
| History The castle was occupied by Cromwell's General Monck in the 1650s and by the Jacobites in 1715. Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed here in 1746 but in revenge the family were thrown out and the castle used by Hanoverian forces. New Northern wing built in the early 18th century (later demolished) and the West wing built in 1840. Used as a Polish medical stores depot during the Second World War. Acquired by the Clan Menzies Society in 1957.
Paranormal Activity Several paranormal investigation teams have investiagted the castle with similar results. Activity includes unexplained odours, disembodied voices, feelings of being followed on the stairs, apparitions of children, sensations of being pushed, doors closing of their own accord, window shutters closing by themselves, some visitors being too scared to even enter the castle! EVPS (Electronic Voice Phenomena) have also been recorded in the castle.
